TIMELINE

• May 2013: Newton Cemetery completes 1st phase of the Master Plan
• September 2014: Newton Cemetery receives Level II arboretum accreditation
• October 2014: Phase I “The Dell” is completed
• February 2019: Horticultural Master Plan completed
• December 2020: Planning begins for Phase II “The Knoll”

PROJECT SCHEDULE

October 2022: Project Start

• November 7-22, 2022: Tree removal and clearing
• November 28 – December 16, 2022: Vegetation removal, stump clearing, and grinding
• December 19 – January 4, 2023: Stripping of topsoil, excavation, and soil stockpiling
• ​January 5 – 20, 2023: Excavation, soil stockpiling, and earthwork
• January 20 – February 3, 2023: Soil screening and processing; Ledge survey and site assessment
• February 6, 2023 – March 24, 2023: (Work Complete) Ledge removal by hoe-ramming, will be completed on Friday, March 24th
• March 24, 2023 – April 15, 2023: Rock processing and burial soil placement
• April 10, 2023 – May 5, 2023: Soil screening and processing
• April 10, 2023 – April 28, 2023: Drainage structure and piping installation
• April 18, 2023 – May 12, 2023: Site wall subgrade prep and wall installation. Grading and prep for topsoil areas. Gravel prep for roadways  

​November 2023: Project Completion

Spring 2024: Planting Completion
